Privacy policy
The short version: we collect only what we need, we tell you what it's for, we don't sell it, and you can ask us to delete it.
Last updated: August 2026
What we collect
Information you give us: your name, email, phone number, ZIP code or neighborhood, and anything you type into a form — a volunteer signup, a question, a neighborhood concern, an event RSVP, or an endorsement.
Contribution information: contributions are taken on Anedot, not on this site. Anedot collects your name, mailing address, email, occupation, and employer, because Florida campaign finance law requires the campaign to report them. The campaign receives that information from Anedot; this website never handles it.
Automatically collected: basic analytics about pages visited, referring site, approximate region, device type, and browser. We do not use this to build advertising profiles of individuals on this site.
What we do with it
Contact you about the campaign in the ways you asked to be contacted.
Organize volunteers and events, and route neighborhood concerns to the right place.
Meet legal obligations, including campaign finance reporting.
Understand which parts of this site are useful.
What we don't do
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information.
We do not use information obtained through Commissioner Smith's city office for campaign purposes.
We do not publish your email address, phone number, or home address. Where we publish a question or endorsement, we publish only your first name and neighborhood, with your permission.
Contributions and public records
Contributions are reported to the City Clerk as Florida law requires, including contributor name, address, occupation, and amount. Those filings are public record. We cannot make a contribution anonymous.
Payments are processed by Anedot on Anedot's own pages. The campaign never receives or stores your card number, and this website stores no contribution records at all. Anedot's own privacy policy governs its handling of your contribution and payment data.
Email and text messages
We send email only to people who signed up. Every message has a one-click unsubscribe link, and unsubscribing takes effect immediately.
We send text messages only to people who explicitly opted in by checking the SMS consent box and providing a mobile number. Message and data rates may apply; message frequency varies. Reply STOP to unsubscribe or HELP for help. We do not share mobile numbers or SMS consent with third parties for their own marketing.
Photographs and testimonials
We publish photographs of identifiable individuals and testimonial quotes only with permission. If you appear in a photograph on this site and want it removed, email us and we will remove it.
How long we keep things
Campaign finance records are retained as long as Florida law requires.
Volunteer, subscriber, and submission records are retained through the campaign and then deleted or archived, except where a legal retention obligation applies.
You can ask us to delete your information at any time and we will, except where we are legally required to keep it.
Security
We use encrypted connections, multifactor authentication on campaign accounts, individual staff accounts with limited permissions, and automatic backups. No system is perfect; we will tell affected people promptly if something goes wrong.
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Contact us about your information
To see what we have, correct it, or delete it, email the campaign. We will respond within a reasonable time.
